Relentless flooding has forced more than 150,000 people from their homes across Morocco in just one week—and the crisis is most severe in the Northern region, where communities are reeling from devastation.

In a matter of days, torrential rainfall reached 100–150 mm, overwhelming rivers, drainage systems, and entire neighborhoods. Authorities declared a red alert, schools were forced to close and move to remote learning, and families were left scrambling for safety.

So far, four lives have been lost, including a two-year-old child, and one person remains missing. Heart-wrenching scenes have emerged of children and elderly residents stranded on rooftops, rescued only by small boats as floodwaters surged below them.

And the danger isn’t over.

Morocco has already been battered by Storm Leonardo and is now facing Storm Marta, with more rain and instability expected in the coming weeks—just as temperatures drop and displaced families struggle without basic necessities.
